Broward County, FL – Healthcare executive Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick who received tens of thousands of votes in the 2020 Democrat Primary, in Florida’s Congressional District 20, announces a media blitz promoting her bold progressive initiative – the People’s Prosperity Plan. Sheila launched her new website today at www.PeoplesProsperityPlan.com which is an interactive community platform that will be used to engage with the public regarding her People’s Prosperity Plan.

When elected, Sheila will draft a Bill in Congress that will provide permanent $1,000 economic recovery checks for anyone over 18 who makes less than $75,000 a year, which would be funded by a comprehensive taxation plan that will force Big Business and the ultra wealthy to finally pay their fair share. Sheila’s plan comes on the heels of recent media revelations that the wealthiest few in America have been paying little to no personal income taxes for years. As a matter of fact, Amazon, which is owned by the richest man in the world, paid NO FEDERAL TAXES in 2018.

Her campaign has also bought more than $50,000 in digital ads to promote her People’s Prosperity Plan that will be seen on Facebook, Instagram, and many well-known social media sites.

Billboards, Radio Ads and mailers were also purchased in both Palm Beach and Broward counties to make residents aware of the People’s Prosperity Plan that will enable most to receive checks of $1,000 a month as our nation’s economy recovers from the effects of Covid-19.

These monthly economic recovery checks will “reduce stress on struggling families and help our seniors and college students,” Cherfilus-McCormick says. “Under my plan, the ultra-wealthy will finally pay their fair share.”

Economic Recovery Checks will help rehabilitate our economy and level the playing field for many Americans. According to financial experts, the Covid-19 emergency stimulus checks have been crucial to keeping people in their homes, healthy and fed – more than 57% of the stimulus funds were spent on food -- while also providing opportunities for new small businesses to flourish.

A household survey conducted in February and March by the U.S. Census Bureau found that 52% of Americans used their stimulus checks to pay off debt. People also used these checks to build economic health. A study published in April by the Federal Reserve Bank in New York, found “remarkable stability in how stimulus checks are used over the three rounds, with a slight decline in the share dedicated to consumption and a proportional increase in the share saved.”

“For too long, workers have been bankrolling the lifestyles of the powerful few,” Cherfilus-McCormick says in her ad, reminding voters that Amazon paid zero in federal income taxes in 2018.

“As your Congresswoman, I will fight the special interests so you can start receiving $1,000 a month,” Cherfilus-McCormick adds. Her campaign plans to spend more than a million dollars in the coming months promoting her bold progressive agenda. Sheila was recently endorsed by former Democratic Presidential Candidate Marianne Williamson and the Brand New Congress, a prominent Political Action Committee behind such Progressive figures as Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

When elected, Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick would be the First Democrat Haitian American ever elected to Congress.

The special election primary to replace the late Congressman Alcee Hastings, who passed away in April, is November 2, 2021. The general special election is Jan. 11, 2022.
